Single Stream Recycling

Recycling Saves Money

The City of Quincy spends millions each year to dispose of its trash. If we increased our recycling by just 10%, the City would save $300,000 in money that could be used for other services, like police, fire, schools, and senior services. Plus, Quincy earns money from its recyclables. When you recycle, you choose not to waste your taxpayer dollars.

Recycling Information

The City of Quincy's web site has detailed information on recycling and other ways to reduce your trash. Click here to visit the City of Quincy's web page on waste and recycling. FYI, compost bins and rain barrels are available to residents at discounted prices (call 617-376-1953 or email recyclequincy@quincyma.gov).

Purchase Clean Energy

You can support renewable energy through National Grid's GreenUp program. Mass Energy Consumers Alliance, a local nonprofit, provides two GreenUp products—New England GreenStart and New England Wind.

New England GreenStart allows you to meet 100% of your electricity needs with a mix of wind, solar, landfill gas, digester gas (cow power), and low-impact hydro. All resources are from New England.

New England Wind allows you to meet 100% of your electricity needs with wind. All of the power is generated in Massachusetts.

Install Solar Panels

Solar Information

If you have a south-facing roof that's unobstructed (no trees or objects blocking the sun), you may be a good candidate for solar energy. You can use solar to produce electricity or to heat your water. If you would like your home or business assessed for solar, you will need to contact an installer. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center has a useful 'Finding an Installer' link that will help you choose. The Center also runs the Commonwealth Solar Rebate program and the Commonwealth Solar Hot Water Rebate program, which are two generous incentives currently offered. Click here to visit their web site.

Solar Incentives

The incentives for solar energy can change from year to year. If you would like information on current incentives for hot water or electric solar, please contact Energy Smart Quincy by calling 617-750-4329 or email.
